Screen recordings that look professionally edited.
Record your Mac screen and get a finished video, not raw footage: zooms that follow your clicks and typing, a smooth cursor, clean backgrounds, and a separate audio track you can split, trim and mute. Made for tutorials, product demos and YouTube.
A recorder and a timeline editor in a single window. No Electron, no web view; the compositor runs on the GPU and the UI is drawn natively.
Opens and saves .screenstudio project files, so recordings you already have keep working here.
Zooms follow clicks and typing, animated with a spring. Adjust or remove any of them on the timeline.
Audio lives on its own track. Split, trim, move and mute it separately from the video.
ScreenCaptureKit under the hood. Record a display, a window or an area; click a window to pick it.
A wgpu compositor renders the timeline. Export MP4 (H.264 / HEVC), ProRes, GIF or WebM, with mixed audio.
Both themes, dark by default. Follows the system setting or stays where you put it.
Anything not built yet is greyed out in the app instead of half-working. In order of likely arrival:
Recording and editing are free and open source under Apache-2.0, and so are your first three exports. After that, exporting from the official build needs a license, verified offline. No account, no phone-home. You can always build from source and remove the gate; the license pays for the signed, notarized download, the CI and the maintenance.
Recording and editing stay free either way. The key only unlocks export.
